Hen Eglwys Case Study

Hen Eglwys’ modern facade was created utilising SPSenvirowall’s Staffordshire Blue
BrickStick system and 1.50mm of silicone topcoat finish colour WH89

SPSenvirowall silicone render and clay brick slips has been specified for this contemporary new build on a popular Caerleon Road area of Newport, formerly the site of St Matthews Church.

The façade system has been used on the walls of the new development to provide an attractive and modern finish.

St Matthews Church, built in 1890 and closed in 2014 due to dry rot, was demolished to make way for the provision of 14 apartments for residents over the age of 55.

Now called Hen Eglwys, the development is an attractive, modern and dynamically designed 3 storey building and maintains a similar style to the church it replaced.

Hen Eglwys’ modern façade was created utilising SPSenvirowall’s Staffordshire Blue BrickStick system with a charcoal grey pointing mortar and 1.50mm protective silicone topcoat finish colour WH89 from our extensive range.

SPSenvirowall’s BrickStick system offers the flexibility of a brick slip system with the traditional look, durability and feel of real brick work.

Developed to complement our brick finish package, BrickStick provides a cost effective slip system with properties that a real brick provides.

The system incorporates a standard range of extruded slips and cut slips starting from 12mm in thickness up to 20mm depending on brick producer and type of brick.

The silicone topcoat a high vapour permeable product making it ideal to use as a finish with all types of insulation, especially in conjunction with a mineral wool insulation and is available in 1.00mm, 1.50mm, 2.00mm and 3.00mm grain size.

Hen Eglwys now provides homes to Derwen Housing tenants and is close to local shops, transport links and is within walking distance of the City Centre.
