Inverness is to be home to a new £6 million whisky distillery and brewery, for the first time in nearly forty years. The Uilebheist Distillery which is located on the Glen Mhor Hotel complex, will be sustainably powered by the water from the nearby River Ness and is set to create about 40 new jobs.
The new centre will offer a range of tours and experiences ranging from site tours and whisky and craft beer sampling through to detailed master classes, blending workshops and food pairing menus. Onsite heat pumps within the adjoined sustainability centre will provide heating and hot water, which is also distributed throughout the Glen Mhor Complex.
The main Contractor, Compass Build, chose SPS Envirowall’s Rendaclad silicone system for the external façade of this prestigious project which was installed by CMB Ltd. Both Compass Build and CMB Ltd are approved installers of SPS Envirowall products.
Façade build-up.
The façade on the light gauge steel frame structure was constructed using SPSenvirowalls’ BBA approved RendaClad system utilising the Renderflex-lite high performance cellulose fibre cement render carrier board and Flexisil, its thin coat silicone finish.
The Rendaclad system was mechanically fixed to the steel frame using the Company’s own Allface “helping-hand” brackets, a scaleable, highly adaptive cladding fixing system based on a trusted portfolio of alumium brackets and support rails.
The distillery is themed on Highland myths and legend and will produce around 250 whisky casks per year, making the Inverness whisky one of the rarest in the country.
