The £3.8 million refurbishment in the Royal Borough of Greenwich comprises 13 two storey flats, of timber frame construction. Over the course of 97 weeks, the properties were re-roofed and then insulated using SPSenvirowall 90mm GEPS, Envirobase and FlexiSil topcoat by SERS.
SPSenvirowall recommended using 90mm GEPS to achieve a U-value calculation of 0.29W/m2.k, while the Envirobase and Flexisil topcoat was used to achieve the overall look of the external façade and ensuring a long lasting easy to maintain look.
This was a complex contract to work on due to properties being deemed a fire risk as they were of timber construction and had large areas of asbestos. The buildings required replacement roofs, fire protection between properties and were clad in a fireproof carrier board prior to the system being installed.
Working closely with installers, SERS, we were able to come up with the best solution to achieve the fire protection required.
The project was particularly challenging, with the brief comprising of major external refurbishment works whilst the properties were still occupied. Working closely with main contractor Niblock and SERS, deliveries were scheduled on-time to prevent a delay in completing the works and avoid disruption to the tenants. Regular site visits by a SPSenvirowall Site Manager ensured that the installation of the system was applied to specification throughout the refurbishment project.
SERS commenced work on site in November 2016. The refurbishment now completed, provides energy savings and comfortable living conditions for the residents.
