The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s Building Safety programme continues to consider safety risks to high-rise buildings.

As part of the MHCLG’s ongoing programme to ensure action to replace ACM cladding with safe systems on social and private sector high-rise residential buildings, the department has issued a letter to housing associations requesting that they complete a data collection exercise which will allow the MHCLG to better identify the external wall materials and insulation on all social high-rise residential buildings 18 metres and over. The departments aim is to build a better picture of high-rise residential buildings and the variety of external wall systems in use and to better help fire and rescue services to prioritise their inspection and protection work.
